TWO men separately accused of rape were arrested while applying for clearance at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) district office in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija.

According to the NBI, one of the suspects is facing a rape complaint before Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 19 of Bacoor City, while the other one has a pending rape case with RTC Branch 23 in Trece Martires City.

A case-status check conducted by the NBI showed that suspects are “charged and at-large.”

“Notably, their arrest proves that NBI Clearance is the most reliable clearance service in the country, the NBI being the national repository of all criminal records,” the NBI said in a statement.

In another development, NBI agents arrested a suspected human trafficker who was allegedly “pimping” women, some of them minors, through social media.

In a statement, the suspect was arrested in an entrapment operation in Balayan, Batangas.

The arrest of the suspect stemmed from information that the suspect was reportedly engaged “in (the) illicit activities of providing, offering, and transporting women, some of whom were believed to be minors, for sexual exploitation to paying customers.”

NBI agents immediately hatched an entrapment operation wherein the suspect was arrested by agents belonging to the Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) regional office.

Eleven women, one of them minor, were likewise rescued in the NBI operation.
