VICE President Sara Duterte will be wearing a borrowed Tagabawa tribe dress during the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Duterte spokesperson Atty. Reynold Munsayac said the Vice President will depart from wearing traditional Filipiniana on the special occasion.

Instead, she will be honoring her kababayans from the Bagobo Tagabawa tribe of Davao City by wearing their masterpiece, Munsayac added.

However, since an entire ensemble would take over a month to make by tribal artisans it will not make it on time for Monday’s SONA.

“VP Sara Duterte will instead borrow a Bagobo Tagabawa traditional dress from Bae Sheirelle Anino, the Deputy Mayor of the Tagabawa tribe of Davao City,” Munsayac said.

Duterte is one of the VIPs invited to attend the first SONA of the President.

Marcos and Duterte formed the UniTeam for the 2022 national elections to which they both got the overwhelming majority votes.

The SONA of PBB will be delivered in the afternoon after the Congress convenes the 19th Congress.

Government officials, lawmakers and members of the diplomatic corps. Attending SONA traditionally sport their outfit, using it to make political statements.

Also invited are the past Presidents and Vice Presidents of the country. To date, former Presidents Joseph Estrada and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo have confirmed their attendance. No words yet

from former President Rodrigo Duterte and former Vice President Leni Robredo.
