Uniforms not required next school year
THE Department of Education will not require students this coming school year to wear uniform.
This was announced by Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte in response to queries if wearing school uniform is mandatory.
“Even before the pandemic, it is not a strict requirement for public schools to wear uniforms (DepEd Order No. 065, s. 2010) to avoid incurring additional costs to the families of our learners,” Duterte said.
The Vice President said the department is looking for more ways on how to lessen the burden of parents and students while quality of education is not compromised.
“All the more that it will not be required this School Year given the increasing prices and economic losses due to the pandemic,” she added.
Earlier, Duterte announced that school year 2022-2023 will officially begin on August 22, 2022 through online and blended learning.
Likewise, full face-to-face classes will begin on November 2 to all public and private schools nationwide.
