Truck driver yields P74K shabu, gun during police search

CABANATUAN CITY – Police served two search warrants and arrested a truck driver after the operation led to the seizure of illegal drugs worth P74,800 and an unlicensed pistol here on Wednesday.

Nabbed was a 43-year-old truck driver of Purok 1, Barangay Polilio, this city.

City police head Lt. Col. Edilmar G. Alviar said the suspect’s arrest was carried out at 8:50 a.m. on the strength of two search warrants issued by Cabanatuan City Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Johnmuel Romano RD. Mendoza on October 25.

Seized during the operation were a cal.45 pistol with a magazine having five bullets and five plastic sachets of shabu weighing 11 grams with a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P74,800.

Alviar said the search was done in an orderly manner and witnessed by barangay officials and representatives from the media and the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The arrested suspect and the seized pieces of evidence were brought to the police station for proper disposition while separate complaints for violation of Sections 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition) have been referred for inquest filing before the Cabanatuan City Prosecutor’s Office.
