Top carnap suspect cornered in Ilocos Norte
BANNA, Ilocos Norte — Local police scored a major breakthrough in thier campaign against carnapping after they arrested the “Top 2 most wanted person” in Ilocos region Monday morning in Brgy.Crispina, Banna, Ilocos Norte.
According to Col. Julius C Suriben, police director, Orlando Icari alias Rolando Mateo Icari Jr., 43, a native of Brg. Ipil, Gonzaga, Cagayan and resident of Brgy. Paltit, Badoc, was arrested for carnapping charges.
Suriben said the suspect was allegedly operating in Region 1 and has been tagged as the Top 2 most wanted by the Highway Patrol Unit and Top no. 8 by the local police.
The suspect, Suriben said, was collared by joint tracker teams of Banna Municipal Police Station (MPS, (lead unit), PIU, PHPT, Laoag CPS, 103rd Patrol Based RMFB 1, Marcos MPS, and Badoc MPS for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016).
The suspect was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by Laoag City RTC Branch 65 Judge Myra Shiela Marders Nalupta.
A bail bond of P300.000 was recommended for the suspect’s provisional liberty.
The accused was apprised of his rights in a dialect known to him and was brought to the Banna MPS for documentation prior to his turnover to the court of origin. Body worn cameras and alternative recording devices were used to record the said operation, police added.
