THIEVES hit a family renting a cottage at a beach resort in Bataan.

The Bataan police reported to Police RO3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. that the complainant was Segundo Mentoya, 64, a retired personnel of the Philippine Navy, and renting a house in Bgy. Capitangan, Abucay, Bataan.

Mentoya told police that stolen was a Hermes bag worth P1,200,000 and containing P300,000 cash, passport with visa, credit and ATM cards, keys, and jewelry worth P500,000.

The victim said he and his family arrived at Aguawan Beach around 7 a.m. on March 8.

Upon their arrival, they brought their things from their service vehicle to their rented cottage at the beach, but the bag containing the alleged stolen items was allegedly left inside the vehicle.

Around 6 p.m. on the same day, the complainant went to get the bag in the vehicle but it was not there.

Thinking they left the bag at their house in Abucay, they went there to check but the bag was nowhere to be found.

They returned to Aguawan Beach, reported the incident in Bgy. Sisiman and reviewed the CCTV footage.

The footage showed four men near the vehicle around 8 a.m. on March 8, the same time when the complainant’s maid was instructed to get something at the vehicle and noticed there was no bag inside.

The three men caught on the CCTV footage were interviewed by the barangay Sisiman officials on the incident, including an alias “Ronald” who was caught by the complainant stealing his cellular phone on March 1.

In the afternoon of March 9, the missing bag and passport were found inside the billiard hall of an abandoned hotel building at the Aguawan Beach but the valuable items were already missing.
