Student drowns in Zambales beach
A GRADE 11 student on Thursday died while another one survived in a drowning incident at a beach in Bgy. 6, San Miguel, San Antonio, Zambales.
The fatality was identified as Alexuz Gabriel Evangelista, 16, of Purok 4, Bgy. San Nicolas, San Antonio; while Eugene Lee, 16, of Purok 7, Bgy. San Nicolas survived.
Police said the two victims, together with their companions, went swimming at a beach in San Miguel.
The two victims were swept away by strong waves pulling them towards the deep portion of the water.
Lee managed to swim towards the shoreline and survived but Evangelista went missing.
Members of the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Navy and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office immediately launched a search and retrieval operation to recover the body of Evangelista.
