PLDTTELECOMMUNICATIONS company SMART-PLDT became a trending topic on social media after it was flooded with complaints from netizens due to Monday night’s massive fiber outage.

The affected areas were San Luis, Aurora; Batangas City; Calamba, Laguna: Taytay, Rizal: Manila; Mandaluyong; Gamay, Northern Samar; Talisay City, Cebu; Iloilo City; Cebu City; Pilar, Bohol; Cagayan De Oro; Misamis Occidental; Isabela, Basilan; Davao City; and Isabela, Basilan.

Angry netizens slammed SMART- PLDT for the outage which occurred without any advisory and disrupted daily activities.

“PLDT brags about claims of fastest speeds in the country, and network superiority— these are cheap if it can’t put its money where its mouth is,” said a disgruntled subscriber.

The following are some of the subscribers’ complaints:

“I have my studies and my work. I cant make it on time because of the slow internet connection. We just payed our bill and this is what we get? Apurado kaymo ug maningil pero inig mabayran murag soso sa kahinay inyong connection,” a subscriber complained.

“Do we need more than we pay? NOPE. Just let us have right internet connection as we pay. This is too far from what I pay for every month!”

“Update naman dyan realtime kung mag eExpect kaming down para hindi kami mabuang sa workhome. Wala na kaming sweldo! Nov 9 2021.”

“HOOOOYYY NAKA BREAK AKO. PAGBALIK KO, NAKA DISCONNECT NA AKO SA VPN!!! I STILL HAVE WORK TO DO!”

“HUYYYYY ANOOOO NAAAA DI USO ANG MAG UPDATE HA?”

“PLDT whats wrong? may raffle promo pa to get a free one year 1gbps internet speed eh ngayon halos hindi maka-akyat sa 3mbps ang DL speed nyo. 25mbps ang binabayaran ko. ano ba?”

“ANO NA PLDT, GALAW GALAW MGA YAWA!

SInce SAturday pa PLDT internet connection issues. Until today Monday Nov 8, 2021 8:06 PM.. Please let us know when it will be resolved. May trabaho ako. Internet based. !!”

“back from 6 hours ago, people are complaining bout download speed being slow despite the fact speedtest has low ping given, i too is experiencing the issue, is there a maintenance? if so , why not post it in the Fb page?, PLDT complaints has now rose, but that aside , i hope you bring back the strong connection given before, we are really hoping for online classes continuing , learning and fun etc.”

“MALAKAS KAYO SA SPEEDTEST PERO SA ACTUAL SURFING PLS MAHIYA NAMAN.”

Meanwhile, market investors drove up prices of Converge Information and Communications Technology Solutions (CNVRG) by six percent and Globe Telecom (GLO) by three percent leaving PLDT (TEL) down by .61 percent on Nov. 8.

This developed after investors ignored tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan’s claim that TEL was “undervalued” compared to its rivals Globe GLO and CNVRG.

Since Pangilinan’s undervalued statement, CNVRG added P28 billion to P265 billion and GLO added P20 billion to P441 billion.

TEL remained steady at P354 billion.

An analyst said investors were wary of TEL’s struggles in shifting to digital and focused on stocks that offer higher potential for growth rather than current values.

This has resulted in CNVRG’s quick rise to fiber domination and double unicorn status of Glo’s GCash.

Pangilinan claimed the market undervalued TEL’s fixed broadband business which he said was 50 percent ahead in some markets and had twice the revenues of CNVRG.

While GLO’s market cap has been bolstered by the $2 billion valuation of its GCash, TEL’s PayMaya was not too shabby, Pangilinan said, claiming PayMay has achieved unicorn or $1 billion status.

“So things have changed, have moved up, also the soft space, gross transaction value and now the digital banking license being approved for PayMaya. We think this is a long area and hopefully, it will grow faster next year,” said Pangilinan.
