Defensor vows to deliver .75M QC votes for UniTeam

WEARING red and green shirts, tens of thousands of UniTeam presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. and vice presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s supporters on Wednesday filled the stretch of Commonwealth Ave. and other major streets during the leading duo’s first grand unity caravan in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Marcos and Duterte stormed Quezon City to further solidify their chances of winning the country’s two top posts in the May 2022 presidential elections.

“The people came out of their houses and occupied the Commonwealth and Quezon Avenues to express their support for the BBM-Sara tandem. They represent the silent supermajority. This is unprecedented,” said Malayang Quezon City mayoralty aspirant Mike Defensor, a party-list lawmaker representing Anakalusugan, who spearheaded the grand caravan with his running mate, Councilor Winnie Castelo, House Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin G. Romualdez, Quezon City Reps. Precious Castelo and Onyx Crisologo, former Quezon City Rep. Bingbong Crisologo and others.

The BBM-Sara caravan practically occupied all the eight lanes of the northbound (Brgy. Commonwealth) and southbound (Brgy. Commonwealth to Philcoa) of the Commonwealth Avenue as the convoy passed through.

“Humihingi ako ng paumanhin sa matinding traffic dahil unexpected talaga ang turnout sa sobrang dami ng mga taong nakiisa. Lumabas talaga sa kalsada ang mga ordinaryong mamamayan. Nakakalungkot na hindi tayo pinayagan na gawin ang ating aktibidad sa loob ng Quezon City Memorial Circle,” Defensor said, referring to the heavy traffic caused by the caravan after a sea of people occupied the highway.

The motorcade kicked off with a meet-and-greet event at the eastbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, in front of the Commission on Audit (CoA) head office.

Marcos and Duterte maintained their message of unity to help the country recover from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and propel economic growth.

The caravan took a U-turn along Fairview and went through Commonwealth Avenue all the way to Quezon Avenue and ended at the Welcome Rotunda.

Thousands of motorcycle riders wearing red and green shirts dominated the highway as a show of unity and support for Duterte and Marcos.

DEFENSOR VOWS MORE THAN 750,000 VOTES FOR BBM-SARA IN QC

Defensor vowed to deliver more than 750,000 votes for Duterte and Marcos in next year’s polls after what he described as “supermajority” came out of their houses to support the grand caravan.

“Based sa voters during last election, may 1.3 million registered voters, assuming lang 1.3 and mayroon tayong turnout na almost 80 percent or assume na rin natin na one million, tinataya namin na ang boto ni Bongbong Marcos will be at 750,000 or more in Quezon City. Ika nga supermajority in Quezon City,” Defensor said.

Defensor also appealed to the groups behind the filing of disqualification cases before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) against Marcos to respect the people’s will and decide for their future.

He stressed that all disqualification cases against Marcos are baseless and unfounded.

“Una sa lahat iyung disqualification hindi papayag ang taong-bayan diyan. We feel unfair at tinatanggal natin ang karapatan ng mga tao na mamili ng lider. Nakita naman nila na kumandidato na si Pangulong Bongbong Marcos in the past elections at ang disqualification na iyan is just harassment. Iyung machinations na iyan is just to take out BBM na alam naman nating panalo na sa darating na halalan,” Defensor stressed.

“The only chance of the opponent or a candidate to win is to disqualify BBM, other than that panalo na si BBM,” Defensor said.

“Una sa lahat, ipinapakita ni Bongbong Marcos ang kanyang pagmamahal sa Quezon City, of course ngayon buong Metro Manila ang nandito, but primarily for Quezon City. Pangalawa, kami mismo gusto naming ipakita sa ating mga awtoridad, sa Comelec at sa taong-bayan na ganito kalakas si BBM,” Defensor added.

Under the UniTeam alliance, Marcos is the standard-bearer of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) while Duterte is the vice presidential aspirant of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) where she is the Chairperson.

Romualdez is the president of the Lakas-CMD while Defensor is a friend and ally of the party.

The Castelo husband and wife team as well as Crisologo father and son tandem are members of Lakas-CMD.
