ON the eve of the Supreme Court’s 120th Anniversary, the 14 incumbent high court justices using their personal resources and working collectively, purchased more than 14 tons of vegetables from farmers to be distributed to various community pantries.

Included in their distribution list were the indigent ward of the Philippine General Hospital, the Manila Police District, and existing community pantries throughout the National Capital Region.

Community pantries have phenomenally mushroomed across the country in the spirit of ‘Bayanihan’ amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Community pantries, which provide free or cheap food and other essentials to people who are struggling during the pandemic, have been dominating the headlines lately.
