SC extended deadline for filing of pleadings

THE Supreme Court (SC) has released a circular extending the deadline for the filing of pleadings and other submissions, which are due in January 2022, in all courts nationwide.

The deadline was extended until February 1, 2022, Administrative Circular No. 01-2022 signed by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, read.

The SC took into consideration the uptick in COVID-19 cases and the devastation left by super typhoon Odette in extending the deadline.

Also the extension was sought by the Board of Governors of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

On Monday, the Department of Health recorded another daily-high of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases at 33,169.

This surpassed the previous day’s tally on Sunday, January 9 of 28,707 new cases.

This brings the country’s total number of COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,998,530, nearly breaching 3 million cases.
