Sara-Rody power tandem dominates June 7-16 Pulse Asia survey

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte and her father, President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte dominated the latest June 7 to 16 Pulse Asia nationwide survey as Filipinos’ top presidential and vice presidential candidates, respectively, in the May 2022 polls.

Sara got 28 percent of 2,400 respondents in the presidential race while 18 percent of them chose President Duterte as vice presidential bet.

Pulse Asia conducted face-to-face survey among people aged 18 years old and above with a margin of error of ± 2% at a 95% confidence level.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso earned 14 percent, while former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. received 13 percent, and Sen. Grace Poe has 10 percent.

Sen. Manny Pacquiao garnered eight percent, Vice President Leni Robredo got six percent, and Sen. Ping Lacson has four percent.

According to the survey, Sen. Bong Go earned three percent and former Vice President Jejomar Binay, ex-Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, and former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV got two percent each.

The least preferred presidential candidates include Sen. Richard Gordon and retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio with 0.3 percent each, and former Defense Sec. Gibo Teodoro and Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez received 0.1 percent each.

Should their original choice for president fail to run for the country’s highest office, 16 percent of respondents will vote for Sara as president followed by Poe and Marcos’ 13 percent each
and 12 percent of Pacquiao.

The Pulse Asia survey said 62 percent of respondents from Mindanao and 16 percent in Metro Manila will vote for Sara Duterte had the elections were held during the period when the survey was conducted.

Moreno emerged as the top choice of Metro Manila respondents with 23% while Marcos got 22%.

In the vice presidential race, 18 percent of the respondents will vote for President Duterte followed by Moreno’s 14%.

Marcos and Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III were tied with 10 percent and Pacquiao got nine percent.

Cayetano received eight percent while former Sen. Chiz Escudero got seven percent followed by five percent of Go, four percent of comedian-host Willie Revillame, Sen. Sonny Angara’s three percent and Trillanes and Public Works Sec. Mark Villar’s two percent each.

The least preferred vice presidential candidate were Teodoro with one percent followed by Alvarez’s 0.3 percent and 0.2 percent of Chel Diokno.
