San Beda, EAC share limelight

SAN BEDA turned to Michael Macario to rule the seniors division of the NCAA online poomsae competition which ended yesterday.

A native of Baguio City, Macario captured the gold in the men’s freestyle event with 7.033 points to beat Jose Rizal University’s Mikko Jeremi Bataoil, who tallied 6.367 for the silver medal.

College of Saint Benilde’s Justin Carl Dominic Nacua completed the podium finishers with 5.600 points.

Counting Alfritz Arevalo’s conquest in the men’s standard poomsae in last Monday’s opener, the Mendiola-based Red Jins ended the four-day competition with two golds and one bronze medal.

After scooping two silvers and a bronze medal, the Blazers finally earned a gold courtesy of Krizelle Therese Yadao in the women’s freestyle event.

With 6.900 points, Yadao bested Shyenler Emelo Cedo of JRU in the two-way battle. Cedo settled for the silver with 6.167.

The Bombers had a 1-2-0 medal haul to finish third. Letran, the Season 96 host, tallied a bronze medal.

In the juniors division, Emilio Aguinaldo College completed a two-gold medal sweep.

John Mcleary Ornido of the Brigadiers topped Raphael Ongkiko of CSB-La Salle Greenhills in the two-way freestyle event with 6.800. Ongkiko scored 6.700 points for the silver medal.

San Sebastian also had one silver, while San Beda wound up in fourth with a bronze to show.
