RSG, Bren Esports advance

DEFENDING MPL Season 9 champion RSG Philippines and Bren Esports took different paths before beating their respective opponents to book a ticket to the upper bracket semifinals in the MPL Philippines Season 10 playoffs at the Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan, Robinsons Bridgetowne in Barangay Bagumbayan, in Quezon City.

RSG PH completed a 3-0 sweep of ONIC Philippines, while Bren Esports rallied from 0-2 deficit to stun Smart Omega, 3-2, on the first day of competitions.

RSG PH overcame a slow start to take Game 1, 12-11, in 20 minutes and 52 seconds of action.

Onic PH even took the lead after bringing down Dylan “Light” Catipon entering the 15th minute and erasing RSG PH’s middle inhibitor turret.

But RSG PH gunned down Ralph “Rapidoot” Adrales and Kenneth “Nets” Barro and took out Stephen “Sensui” Castillo.

RSG PH traded Light for Sensui at the 19th minute mark and sealed the third Lord before completing a three-man sweep for the win.

Nathzz finished with four kills and five assists against one death, while Arvie “Aqua” Calderon had seven assists and a death.

Meanwhile, Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel led Bren Esports to a come-from-behind victory over Smart Omega.

Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog led Omega to an impressive 14-2 victory in Game 1.

Omega also finished off Bren Esports in Game 2, 13-16, in almost 14 minutes of action for 2-0 advantage.

Bren Esports, however, made its move in Game 3.

Pheww, who was named as the Most Valuable Player, led the way for Bren Esports with four kills and eight assists against one death.

The Bren Esports skipper followed it up with another splendid showing in Game 4 as he came up with five kills and seven assists.

RSG PH will face ECHO while Bren will take on Blacklist International in the upper bracket semifinals.
