Rebel surrenderer helps cops recover grenade, gun

PANTABANGAN, Nueva Ecija – A former New People’s Army rebel on Sunday helped policemen recover a hand grenade, and a cal.38 revolver in an internal security operation in the mountainous area of this town.

Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Information chief Capt. Franklin Sindac said the operation was conducted by the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company led by Capt. Nickdeo Pastor under the supervision of Maj. Bryan Christopher L. Baybayan, 2nd PMFC commander at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday.

The successful operation was pulled off with the help of a former rebel identified as alias “Ka Daniel/Julio,” who previously surrendered to the authorities.

“Ito ay isa lamang sa mga maituturing na tagumpay sa patuloy na pasisikap ng kapulisan upang tuluyang wakasan ang insurhensiya at makamit ang tunay na kapayapaan,” said Baybayan.

Recovered during the operation were a fragmentation hand grenade and a cal. .38 with holster.

The operation was launched in collaboration with the PIU-NEPPO, 1st PMFC-NEPPO, NICA3, 303rd MC RMFB3, RIU3, IOS RID3, 84th IB 7ID PA, Pantabangan MPS, Llanera MPS, Guimba MPS, San Jose CPS, Muñoz CPS, Cabanatuan CPS, Talavera MPS, Cuyapo MPS, Carranglan MPS, Rizal MPS, Gen. Natividad MPS, Lupao MPS, Nampicuan MPS, Quezon MPS, Licab MPS, Talugtog MPS, Sto. Domingo, Aliaga MPS and RID NCRPO.
