THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the city is under a green category or the so-called no “hotspots” in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

As per the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the category green refers to areas that do not have security concerns and are generally peaceful and orderly.

In QC, aside from usual polling centers in different barangays, there are three malls in the city – SM North, SM Fairview, and Rob Magnolia – where registered voters were listed to cast their votes.

All roads lead to the voting precincts on October 30 (Monday) where policemen and other uniformed servicemen will be deployed to secure every voter across the country.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Benjamin Acorda Jr. on Monday led the send-off ceremonies for security troops that will beef up their efforts to ensure an honest and orderly BSKE.

The government forces include 715 from the PNP, 250 from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, 115 from the Philippine Coast Guard, and 90 personnel from the Department of Education.

In the May 2019 polls, the COMELEC used color coding in classifying election hotspots, and over 900 areas are listed as category red or localities with grave concern.

Category yellow are areas of concern that have had a history of election-related incidents in the last two elections and intense political rivalry and were previously been declared under Comelec control.

Category orange means areas of immediate concern where there are serious threats posed by the New People’s Army, Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, Abu Sayyaf Group, and other lawless elements.
