LAND Transportation Office (LTO) chief Asst. Secretary Vigor Mendoza II has personally extended his appeal to Alcards Inc. not to pursue its case filed for the sake of the Filipino people.

The court recently issued an injunction against the procurement of driver’s license (DL) plastic cards amid a supply shortage.

“When I personally announced early this month that the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has a sufficient supply of plastic cards that is enough to wipe out the backlog on physical driver’s licenses, there was a jubilation both on the side of the men and women of the LTO family who have been at the receiving end frustrations among the affected motorists, and on the side of our clients who finally saw a ray of light that finally, the problem that primarily affects them would be solved,” Mendoza said in a statement.

However, with the issuance of the writ of preliminary injunction, that hope for normalcy according to the LTO chief, has again been taken away from the millions of affected and would-be affected kababayans.

This time, Mendoza said it’s back to uncertainty as to when the case would be resolved.

“Wala man ako sa LTO nang mag-umpisa ang problemang ito, ramdam na ramdam ko ang epekto nito sa ating mga kababayan lalo na at galing ako sa transport sector bago pumasok sa ahensiyang ito,” he stressed.

And while the government is ready to go on any prolonged legal battles on the issue and to exhaust all the available legal remedies to address this problem, Mendoza said; “wala namang mawawala sa pagpapakumbaba para sa kapakanan ng milyon-milyon natin mga kababayan na apektado nito,” in appealing to Alcards Inc.
