Police major drowns in Cavite resort

A POLICE major celebrating his birthday in a beach resort in Ternate, Cavite reportedly drowned past 2 a.m. last Sunday, a Philippine National Police (PNP) report said.

Major Salvador Garcia, assigned with the Las Piñas City Police Station 4 was rescued by his companions from the waters of Caysubic Beach Resort in Puerto Azul in Ternate municipality and was taken to the Naic Doctor’s Hospital where an attending physician declared him dead upon arrival.

An initial investigation conducted by the Ternate Municipal Police Station showed that the police official was celebrating his birthday with other companions in the beach resort.

The time of the reported drowning incident was put at 2:10 a.m. A doctor declared the victim dead 40 minutes later.

The incident is still being investigated considering that Cavite is one of the provinces under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) until September 7. Under all three types of community quarantines being implemented by the government, trips to tourist destinations, beaches, resorts and water parks are strictly prohibited.
