PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., on Monday accepted some P5 million worth of brand-new office and other police equipment donated to the force by the PNP Foundation, Inc. (PNPFI), chaired by former Senator Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson.

The equipment includes 113 sets of desktop computers with USB mouse and keyboards, 67 units of 3-in-1 printers, 23 projectors, 22 units of portable public address (PA) systems with two wireless microphones, 16 units of CCTV (closed-circuit television) with four channels, and 60 mountain bikes that the police will use in patrolling the streets.

The equipment was worth a total of P4,938,800.

Azurin signed the Deed of Donation with Lacson and PNPFI vice chairperson Ms. Teresita Ang-See.

“The Deed of Donation that we are formalizing today manifests the strong relationship between the PNP and PNP Foundation Inc. that sets an upright jumpstart towards stronger linkages and commitment with our trusted pillars in public service. This partnership will also help in streamlining the quality of our police services and strengthen law enforcement capabilities for efficient delivery of government services to the Filipino people,” Azurin said during the event.

Azurin said more police accomplishments will be achieved with the PNPFI donation, which he said is in line with their ongoing effort to build a much better connection with the community they serve.

“This is also seen to strengthen the police force, as it transforms the organization into a much stronger and more responsive police organization,” he said.

“Despite some stumbling blocks that our organization has been faced with, and the challenges that we have hurdled in the past, your Philippine National Police will swiftly embrace the shared vision and responsibility in realizing our organizational stability, reformation, and resiliency,” Azurin added.

Lacson, also a former PNP chief, said the PNPFI has already given lots of donations to regular and special units of the police force across the country.

“So far since its creation, the foundation, along with its generous donors, have donated various items to around 348 police stations and offices nationwide, amounting to an aggregate total of P193M, including P9.95M directly given in cash to the immediate families of the members of the Special Action Force (SAF) who were either killed or wounded in action in the Mamasapano encounter in Maguindanao,” he said.

Lacson further said that in his individual capacity, especially as senator of the republic for 18 years, he always put a premium on the welfare of the officers and men and women of the police organization in all his legislative work, be it in augmenting the annual budget of the PNP or in enacting laws that benefit the police force.

“I can proudly say without mental reservation and fear of contradiction, being your former chief, I have paid my dues to the men and women of this proud organization, both active and retired,” Lacson said.

Coinciding with the activity, the PNP awarded “Medalya ng Kadakilaan”, “Medalya ng Kasanayan”, and “Medalya ng Papuri” to ten PNP personnel for their significant accomplishments, while 33 PNP personnel received the “Medalya ng Katangi-tanging Gawa” as gold, silver, and bronze medalists during the World Police and Fire Games in Rotterdam, Netherlands from July 22 to 31, 2022.
