THE Philippine National Police on Monday signed a memorandum of agreement with SM and CityMall for the opening of National Police Clearance (NPC) booths even on Saturdays and Sundays.

PNP chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. said their partnership with SM and CityMall is aimed at serving the public better, specifically in providing NPCs to busy individuals seeking the clearance for job applications and as a requirement for License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) even on weekends.

“We have signed a memorandum of agreement with SM Supermalls and CityMalls for the expansion of the National Police Clearance System in their respective commercial establishments.

Through this, our National Police Clearance System will be available in more National Police Clearance Desks in SM Supermalls and now, in all CityMalls,” the top cop said.

PNP Director for Investigation and Detective Management, Major Gen. Eliseo DC Cruz said that under the agreement, SM Supermalls will provide NPC System satellite offices in their establishments where the public can seek the police clearance needed for an LTOPF, a License to Engage in Security Professions, a Neuro-Psychiatric Examination and a drug test.

The satellite desks will be supervised by the PNP Civil Security Group under Maj. Gen. Eden T. Ugale.

On the other hand, CityMall will provide NPC clearance booths in their selected branches nationwide.

“I want to personally thank the management of SM Supermalls headed by Mr. Steven T. Tan and the management of CityMalls headed by Mr. Ferdinand J. Sia for this project. This will surely strengthen the successful implementation of our endeavor, in accordance with our shared commitment of ensuring efficient service delivery to every Filipino. Ito ay isang patunay na kapag ang lahat ay nagtulong-tulong, kaligtasan ng lahat ay masisigurado,” the PNP chief said.
