26th Police-Community Relations Month includes bloodletting program

THE Police-Community Relations Group (PCRG) headed by Brigadier General Eric E. Noble on Monday launched a series of activities including a bloodletting program to kick off the celebration of the 26th Police-Community Relations Month.

In coordination with the Philippine Red Cross, the PCRG sought the help of volunteer blood donors from the police force. Dozens of donors lined up at the Camp Crame Multi-Purpose Center to have their blood and convalescent plasma taken by PRC staff.

“We are helping patients in need of blood thru this program. I thus commend all the donors for their selfless act in donating their own blood which will go a long way in saving other people’s lives,” said Philippine National Police chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar.

With Gen. Eleazar and National Police Commission Vice Chairman, Attorney Vitaliano N. Aguirre II in attendance, the PCRG also formally launched its Project VIBES, short for Virtual Bisita Eskwela-I Am Strong) which will help students under the new normal.

Brig. Gen. Noble said that the project will make it possible for PNP personnel to reach out to students and out-of-school youths by virtually conducting crime prevention advocacy programs with the aid of video clips and other medium of presentations in coordination with different school and community leaders.

The PCRG and the PNP Directorate for Police-Community Relations headed by Major Gen. Rhodel O. Sermonia conceptualized the e-Learning program for students and the out-of-school youths amid the pandemic.

The PNP chief also signed a memorandum of agreement with the Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation ,Inc. represented by its president Reinaldo A. Bautista Jr.

The agreement formalizes the proactive collaborative efforts of the two organizations in advocating awareness to children and the youth of the government’s effort against criminality, illegal drugs and terrorism and help them become responsible citizens through the Project VIBES.

The PNP also inked an agreement with the Association of Marine Officers and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines represented by Dr. Conrado Oca. Under the accord, the two agreed to work together thru the Global Community Police Relations’ international and local help desks to provide seafarers and their families an easy access to the PNP and assistance from the force.
