PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) agents this week arrested seven known drug suspects and seized nearly P1.6 million worth of shabu in a string of anti-criminality operations across the country, PNP Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC) Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr. said on Thursday.

The top cop said that one of the suspects, identified as alias “Nicanor”, was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Bgy. San Felipe in Naga City in Camarines Sur last Tuesday.

The suspect yielded an estimated P238,000 worth of shabu and the marked money, said Lt. Gen. Danao citing a report from Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5) Director Brig. Gen. Mario A. Reyes. Jr.

Two other suspects, including a woman, were arrested by members of the PRO7 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 7 in a sting in Bgy. Labangon in Cebu City last Monday evening. Recovered from the duo were an estimated P422,000 worth of shabu and the marked bills paid to them by a poseur, said PRO 7 Director Brig. Gen. Roque Edgardo DP Vega.

The 4th suspect was arrested last Monday in his hiding place in Bgy. Villamonte in Bacolod City by members of the local police on the strength of a warrant for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Marites Gumahin of the Bacolod City Regional Trial Court Branch 51.

The 5th suspect, tagged as the 6th most wanted drug personality in Southern Mindanao, yielded an estimated P54,000 worth of shabu during an anti-narcotics operation in Panabo City in Davao del Norte conducted by members of the PRO11 and the local Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Last Tuesday, the 6th and 7th suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Jaro, Iloilo City.

Confiscated from the possession of the two suspects were 25 plastic sachets of shabu valued at P1.1 million. The duo was arrested by members of the PRO 6 RDEU and the Iloilo City Police Drug Enforcement Team.

All suspects are now facing charges for violation of RA 9165.

“They have been monitored due to their widespread illegal drug transaction. Now, they will have to face the consequences of their actions in court,” said Lt. Gen. Danao.

The PNP-OIC likewise ordered the concerned police units to conduct follow-up operations to identify and arrest the main source of the drugs recovered from the suspects.
