P600K smuggled cigarettes seized in Basilan
NEARLY P600,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes were seized by members of the Police Regional Office 9 in an anti-smuggling operation in Isabela City in Basilan, PRO9 director Brig. Gen. Bowenn Joey M. Masauding reported yesterday .
According to the official, members of the PRO9 Regional Intelligence Division, the Isabela City Police Station and the Bureau of Customs found the contraband in a house at Blk. 4 in Bgy. Baluno.
However, no arrests were made during the operation, which resulted in the recovery of 10 master cases of smuggled red Champion cigarettes worth at least P573,000.
The recovered pieces of evidence were placed under the custody of the Isabela City Police Station for proper disposition, said Brig. Gen. Masauding.
