OPERATIVES from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency(PDEA) , Philippine National Police (PNP) , and airport officials have seized P3.031-million worth of illegal drugs during a controlled-delivery operation in Baguio City recently.

The operation resulted to the arrest of a suspect identified as Elisa Aguirre Millare, according to NBI Officer-In-Charge Eric Distor.

The operation stemmed from the interception of a parcel by the Bureau of Customs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, which was declared as bed sheets and shoes.

Upon inspection, however, the parcel yielded 1, 783 tablets of designer drug Ecstasy with an estimated street value of more than P1,300,000.

The parcel was consigned to Joyce Annsan Antono of Brisle Ridge Residences, Pacdal Rd., Baguio City.

Thus, the operatives along with airport officials proceeded to Baguio City for a controlled delivery operation.

As the consignee was expected to claim the subject parcel from Baguio Post Office on August 11, operatives positioned themselves near the area to arrest the claimant.

Unfortunately, the consignee did not claim the parcel and instead wanted it to be delivered to her residence in Bristle Ridge Residences.

The next day, joint operatives proceeded and positioned themselves in front of Bristle Ridge Condominium.

A few moments later, Millare went outside to claim the parcel. At this juncture, the joint operatives approached Millare and placed her under arrest.

Millare was brought for inquest before the Office of the Prosecutor, Baguio City for violation of Section 4 (Importation of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act No 9165.

Also, consignee Joyce Annsan Antono, who is at-large, is included in the criminal charge.
