National Civil Aviation Security Committee discusses amendments on civil aviation security program

MEMBERS of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee (NCASC) convened on Friday to discuss the proposed amendments to the National Civil Aviation Security Program (NCASP), a framework which provides the Standards and Recommended Practices in civil aviation security in the Philippines.

This is the first NCASC meeting held under the new administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr, and the 12th meeting since the Committee’s constitution.

Chaired by Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista, the NCASC serves as an advisory body to the Secretary of Transportation, to effectively deal with acts of unlawful interference in the civil aviation industry.

The Office for Transportation Security (OTS), which serves as the Committee’s Secretariat, presented to the members an overview of the NCASC and the creation of OTS, as well as the threat situation in the civil aviation, and implementation of the NCASP.

The OTS similarly presented, as the highlight of the meeting, the amendments to the current NCASP based on developments in the Standards and Recommended Practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Members attending the meeting were Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Ninoy Aquino International Airport MIAA, Mactan-Cebu International Airport Clark International Airport, , Davao International Airport, Zamboanga International Airport, General Santos Airport, PNP Aviation Security Group, Bureau of Immigration, Republic of the Philippines, Bureau of Customs PH, National Bureau of Investigation, Subic Bay International Airport Authority, Bureau of Fire Protection, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Bureau of Plant Industry, OWWA Overseas Workers Welfare Administration , Presidential Security Group, and Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
