A drive-thru community pantry was put up by the Manila Police District (MPD)-Sampaloc Police Station 4 for public utility drivers yesterday, in observance of Labor Day.

PCapt. Philipp Ines, administrative officer of the MPD-Station 4, said the target beneficiaries of the said drive-thru community pantry were jeepney, taxi and tricycle drivers falling under the station’s area of responsibility.

It was learned that the drivers who went to the police community pantry were given free soup, egg bread and bottled water for breakfast, and food packs consisting of canned goods, noodles and rice. Drivers who walked in were also given the same kind of goods.

This, according to Ines, is their way of honoring and thanking the regular workers from the transport industry.

A raffle was also held where the winners were able to get the equivalent of a day’s boundary.
