MC driver, back rider killed in Batangas road mishap
A 31-year-old driver and his back rider were killed after their motorcycle (MC) collided with a van north of National Highway Bgy. Concepcion, Batangas City, Wednesday evening.
Batangas City Police Station (CPS) case investigator PSMS. Carmelo A. Caraig identified the two fatalities as Richard Bongcal, a resident of Acebal Compound, Batasan Hills, Quezon City, and his back rider named Alvin Dotillos.
Initial investigation revealed that Bongcal and Dotillos were seen on board a black Suzuki Raider motorcycle and traversing the national highway when they accidentally collided with a white Nissan Navarra pickup.
Allegedly the Navarra pickup overtook and occupied the opposite lane causing the collision and instant death of the victims, police said.
The pickup driver was detained, and the Batangas CPS impounded his vehicle for further investigation and interrogation.
The remains of the victims were brought to Filipinas Funeral Homes in Bgy. Kumintang Ibaba, Batangas City for medico legal process and autopsy.
