Trike driver killed in Batangas shooting
A TRICYCLE driver was killed while driving his motorcycle along Sitio Silangan, Barangay Palingowak, San Juan, Batangas, the other day.
San Juan Municipal Police Station (MPS) Chief P/Lt. Col. Ferdinand B. Ancheta identified the victim as Joel Leopango, married, of Sitio Centro, Bgy. Palingowak.
Authorities said the suspect is a resident of Sitio Silangan, from the same barangay in San Juan, Batangas.
The San Juan MPS received a call from a concerned citizen around 7:15 p.m. about the shooting incident and immediately dispatched policemen to the scene.
Initial Investigations by case officers P/SSg. Laguerta and P/Cpl. Atienza said the victim was driving his motorcycle while the suspect was standing at the side of the road in front of their house around 6:30 p.m.
The suspect drew his short firearm and shot the victim several times, causing his instantaneous death.
Police recovered five fired cartridge casings for caliber 45 and one slug at the scene.
Further, San Juan MPS immediately conducted a follow-up operation and requested a province-wide search for possible apprehension of the suspect.
The remains of the victim were brought to Bayani Funeral Services for autopsy.
