MALABON capped off its 424th founding anniversary this Saturday (May 20) with a series of events starting with an “Indakan festival.”

The dance competition ran from the streets of Hulong Duhat to San Agustin, with over 20 groups performing their amazing dance pieces, telling the story of the history and tradition of Malabon.

Elementary and high school students from different schools as well as employees from the city hall, joined the competition in colorful costumes made of recycled indigenous materials – Malabon’s way of amplifying “the urgent need to combat climate change.”

Winners from each category will take home P50,000, 1st place gets P30,000, and 2nd place gets P20,000. The festival was also participated by GMA artist Rochelle Pangilinan.

Mayor Jeannie’s administration also promoted the 21 Barangays in Malabon by showcasing the product that each Barangay is particularly known for under its “One Barangay One Product” exhibit held at the lobby of Malabon’s City Hall.

Visitors had the rare opportunity to have all the favorite products that Malabueños have come to love under one roof.

The exhibit featured various food products from eateries offering food creations and unique recipes that cannot be found anywhere else. These eateries have withstood the test of time, representing the city’s culinary excellence.

Food in Malabon is always so delicious. There is so much variety that it has become an essential cornerstone of the city’s tourism economy. Whether the craving is for comfort food or a healthy treat, the search ends in Malabon.

“Its hard to imagine Malabon as a town teeming with Bamboo. The Tambobong Festival provides an opportunity for us to look back and take pride in Malabon’s cultural heritage. I thank everyone who joined our month-long festivity, especially Vice President Sarah Duterte, for celebrating with us,” the Malabon city mayor said.

“The city government will continue to work closely with all sectors to drive continued economic growth and promote Malabon’s distinct culture,” Mayor Jeannie added.

Mayor Jeannie’s “new initiative” to celebrate its Tambobong Festival certainly proved there is something for everyone to enjoy in Malabon.
