Mayor Honey opens LMP general assembly

MANILA Mayor Maria Sheila “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan opened the general assembly of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Tuesday evening at the Manila Hotel.

The LMP, consisting of about 1,500 members from around the country is an organization of all the municipalities created under Section 495 of R.A. 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991 as amended for the purpose of ventilating, articulating and crystallizing issues affecting municipal government administration.

It also provided an opportunity for municipal mayors to share their excellent method of managing the local government and discuss all issues affecting their respective municipalities.

“Let me congratulate the leadership of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines headed by Mayor JB Bernos, the entire executive committee for organizing this General Assembly of all our municipal mayors,” the first female chief executive of the nation’s capital said.

In response, LMP National President Mayor Joseph Bernos of La Paz, Abra thanked Mayor Lacuna-Pangan and the City of Manila for the warm welcome.

The general assembly of the LMP was also attended by Vice President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte.

Duterte expressed her warmest gratitude to the local chief executives for supporting the program of the DepEd. She also appealed to the mayors not to use teachers to win in the next elections.
