Massive reshuffle of key PNP posts bared

A MAJOR reshuffle of key Philippine National Police (PNP) positions took place effective Thursday, with National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Major General Jonnel C. Estomo being named as the PNP Deputy Chief for Operations or the PNP’s 3rd “highest position.”

Estomo of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1992 replaced Lieutenant Gen. Benjamin D. Santos, who was reassigned to the Office of the Chief PNP.

Santos belongs to PMA Class of 1991.

On the other hand, erstwhile PNP Special Action Force (SAF) director, Major Gen. Edgar Alan O. Okubo of PNP Academy (PNPA) Class of 1992, was named as the new Metro Manila police chief vice Estomo while Brigadier Gen Rudolph B. Dimas was designated as the new PNP-SAF director.

Brig. Gen. Westrimundo D. Obinque, the erstwhile PNP Deputy Director for Intelligence, was named as the new Police Regional Office (PRO) 5 director in Bicol region vice Dimas, a classmate from PNPA Class 1995 of Okubo.

Obinque is another PMA Class 1992 member.

With his new position, Estomo will be promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant General, while Dimas will get his 2nd-star as PNP-SAF commander.

The chief of PNP Directorial Staff, Lt. Gen. Michael John F. Dubria, and PNP Director for Personnel and Records Management Maj. Gen. Robert T. Rodriguez issued the official orders for reassigning the five on orders of PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.
