Ma, baby killed by drunk driver!
A YOUNG mother and her one-year-old baby were killed by a pick-up truck driven by an allegedly drunk teenager Sunday in Iloilo.
The ill-fated mother was identified as Emilyn Cañonero, 25.
Cañonero was pushing a small bicycle, with her baby on board, beside the road in Leon, Iloilo when they were hit by the pickup truck driven by the 19-year-old suspect.
Witnesses rushed the mother and her daughter to the nearest hospital, where Cañonero was declared dead on arrival due to severe head and body injuries.
The infant died while undergoing treatment.
Witnesses said the driver tried to escape but his pickup truck crashed beside the bridge in Bgy. Anonang, Leon.
Responding lawmen arrested the driver, who appeared to be drunk.
Charges for reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and damage to property are being readied for filing against the young suspect.
