MAYOR and Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet Isko Moreno announced that the city of Manila topped the 2020 ranking among Highly Urbanized Cities in the Philippines, based on the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI). Prior to this, the local government also received three awards during the Digital Governance Awards 2021.

Developed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and National Competitiveness Council (NCC) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development, the CMCI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities.

Moreno thanked those behind the granting of the recognition, particularly the DTI, saying it will certainly serve as an inspiration and motivator for all Manila government workers to strive even more to give the best service possible for Manila residents whom he said deserve no less.

“Being adjudged number one in the said ranking is a clear testament that the city government of Manila is right on track and that all its pro-people programs are being appreciated not only by the citizens of Manila but by the national government as well,” Moreno said.

The mayor shared the award with and thanked Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and all the city officials and employees, whom he said are highly instrumental in the recognitions and awards being heaped on the city.

“Hindi ko po ito magagawa nang mag-isa. Pasasalamat una sa Diyos, pangalawa sa mga empleyado ng pamahalaang-Maynila at pangatlo, sa DTI,” Moreno said.

“Getting awarded for all of our efforts is just a bonus for which he credits all the city employes who continue to support him and his efforts to bring Manila back on its feet again after years of neglect,” he added.
