Isko: Ayuda given to 88% percent of beneficiaries
THE leadership and employees of the Manila social welfare department were commended and thanked by Mayor Isko Moreno for their non-stop efforts to immediately finish the distribution of the financial assistance from the national government in connection with the enhanced community quarantine.
This, as Moreno announced that the city of Manila has already covered at least 88 percent of the beneficiaries, way ahead of the May 15 deadline.
“Maraming salamat kina MSW director Re Fugoso at sa kanyang mga social workers at daycare workers sa kanilang kasipagan at tiyaga,” Moreno said, noting how they have even been going house-to-house to reach out to the beneficiaries who are either bedridden or physically-challenged.
The mayor also expressed gratitude to the beneficiaries whom he said showed discipline by continuously observing minimum health protocols, adding that 3,173 persons with disabilities and 486 solo parents were among those who have received their share of the ECQ financial aid from the national government.
“Masaya ako na kayo ay disiplinado. Maraming salamat at sumunod kayo sa mga alituntunin ng IATF… may distancing at orderly manner of distribution.. wala talaga dapat ikataranta dahil sa Manila, kwentas klaras tayo,” the mayor said.
“I am truly proud of the social workers of Manila and daycare workers. Maraming salamat, keep it up,” Moreno added as he advised those who have bedridden or physically-challenged family members to inform their respective barangays so that the MSW will reach out to them.
“‘Wag kayong mahiya lumapit o magsabi. Naniniwala ako na bagamat pagod na pagod na sila, they will go out of their way to help kasi kung nanay nila ‘yan, gusto nila mabigyan ‘’yan kaya naniniwala akong tiya-tiyagain nila ‘yan,” Moreno added.
Meanwhile, the mayor advised those who are qualified but were not included in the list to write to the office of Fugoso and ask to be included, saying they have nothing to lose and there is a chance that some of those who are not in the list may be included, on a first-come, first-served basis.
He assured that the applicants need not worry since Fugoso is known for being fair and will definitely conduct a thorough investigation and background checking to ensure that only those who are truly qualified and deserving will be included.
It was learned that some of those in the list from the national government have either died, gone away or are no longer living in Manila, opening the doors to covering those falling under the fourth category, or ‘other individuals affected by the ECQ as may be determined by the local government unit’.
With this development, Moreno said there will be leftover funds which the city government would rather use for those who were not covered under the first three categories in the priority list of beneficiaries.
The mayor said that in distributing the said financial aid, the LGUs are directed to prioritize the social amelioration program beneficiaries under the Bayanihan Acts 1 and 2; those who are waitlisted and those belonging to vulnerable groups such as low-income individuals, living alone, PWDs and solo parents, among others.
