BATAAN–Gov. Joet Garcia has expressed support for the titling of 10.02 hectares timberland being currently occupied by thousands of families in barangay Alas asin in Mariveles.

The governor’s action came after Brgy. Captain Dante Malimban has asked the support of governor himself in their meeting recently at the Governor’s office.

Malimban told the governor that he had already written formally Congresswoman Gila Garcia and Cong. Abet S Garcia to file a bill in congress to convert the timberland into Alienable and Disposable (A&D) land in his barangay.

“For our barangay mates, this is a good news as we had already formally requested and initiating efforts for the conversion into Alienable and Disposable (A&D) of the timberland where your houses have been erected for so long years,” Malimban told his constituents right after his meeting his Gov Garcia.

“Once this timberland is converted into A & D, this land can then be titled under your names and be owned by you,” Malimban pointed out.

Earlier, Malimban sought the help and advice of Provincial Environmental and Natural Resources Official (PENRO) Raul Mamac of DENR in his bid to have all those lots being occupied by his constituents classified as timberland be converted into A&D.

Mamac, in turn, expressed his full support for the titling proposal of Malimban.

“On behalf of my constituents, may I request for the immediate conversion of said area into alienable and disposal for the benefit of our thousands of barangay mates who have long been living in the area.”
