FAR Eastern University yesterday announced that legendary setter Tina Salak is stepping down as women’s volleyball head coach.

The statement came after Salak steered the Lady Tamaraws to a fifth place finish in the recently-concluded UAAP women’s volleyball tournament, a huge turnaround from last season’s one-win campaign.

“Coach Tina will soon migrate to the USA as her immigrant visa application recently got approved,” the FEU Athletics office posted through its social media accounts.

“She will remain with the team as consultant while she plans her move to the US.”

Coach Manolo Refugia, for the meanwhile, will handle the Lady Tamaraws on an interim basis in the V-League Collegiate Challenge scheduled later this year.

“Let’s all wish the best for Coach Tina as she moves on to this new phase of her life,” FEU Athetics office added.

The Lady Tamaraws will lose Season 85 Best Opposite Spiker Jov Fernandez, who recently turned pro. Fernandez will suit up for F2 Logistics in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference set to begin June 27.
