FESSAP to hold age-group table tennis event at Robinsons
THE search for country’s future table tenis stars continues as the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) and Robinsons Novaliches are teaming up anew to hold the Chawi Fishing-FESSAP National Age Group Table Tennis Championships.
FESSAP tournament director Julius Esposo said the two-day event will be held on Nov. 5-6 at the Robinsons Novaliches Trade Hall..
“Our first age-group competition last July was a huge success, so FESSAP and Robinsons Novaliches are doing it again,” said Esposo during the 41st episode of “Sports on Air” via Zoom.
“And like the first one last July, we hope to discover more young and outstanding table tennis players who could someday represent the country in FISU-sanctioned competitions, like the Workd Unuversity Games,” added Esposo, a former national player himself.
Esposo said FESSAP president Edwin C. Fabro and chairman Alvin Tai Lian, and Table Tennis Association for National Development (TATAND) honorary president Charlie Lim have been invited to grace the event and provide inspiration to the participants.
He said more than 200 entries from various clubs, organizations and schools are expected to participate in the competition.
Among the participants are Atimonan Paddlers, DSUTTC, Atimonan-Tarlac, GEHP, ILO-ILO, UST-Angelicum College, Maasin City TTC, All Star Legend-•Army, UMAC, Heimemex/Kapampangan, LSGH TT TEAM, DMMMSU Agoo TTC, Bulacan Spinner, St. Scholastica Academy Bacolod Ciry, Bulakenyong Pingpongero, BPSU/RU, Buskos Bulakan TTC, PATTO, Binangonan TTC, Santuaro of St. Maria Theresa School, Sta. Rosa City and TATAND.
All of them will receive free promo jersey from Joola Philippines.
Esposo said registration is still open untill October 30 or upon reaching the maximum number of entries.
Last July, FESSAP and TATAND sent athletes to the 20th ASEAN University Games in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand.
They were Charles Joshua Lim of St. Benilde, Neo Angelo Laudato of St. Benilde, Francis Bendebel of National University, Romualdo Ramiro Jr. of National University and Ken Andrei Memoria of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta in the men’s division; and Alexandra Dominique Reyes of St Benilde, Marriane Joyce Peralta of St Benilde, Andrea Gestosani of the University of the East and Patricia R. Lucas of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.
