POLICE arrested a suspected member of a drug syndicate while engaging in an illegal gambling activity Wednesday evening in Taguig City.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/Brigadier Gen. Kirby John Kraft said the name of one of the four arrested suspects who were caught while engaging in an illegal gambling activity turned out to be a member of “Loloy Drug Syndicate” involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs in the southern part of Metro Manila and nearby province.

In his report to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director P/Major Gen. Jonnel Estomo, Kraft said personnel of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and Taguig Police Sub-Station 6 were conducting an anti-criminality operation through “Oplan-Galugad” in relation to ongoing “One-Time, Big-Time Operation” (OTBT) at around 10 p.m. along Manggahan St. Bgy. South Signal when they received a call from a concerned citizen about illegal gambling activity near the area.

Operatives immediately proceeded to the area leading to the arrest of four suspects and alias “Jepoy,” an alleged member of the said drug syndicate.

Aside from playing cards and bet money, lawmen seized from the suspects more or less 16.2 grams of suspected shabu valued at P110,160 and caliber .45 pistol with a magazine loaded with three live bullets and an empty magazine for cal. 45, which will be submitted to SPD Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

Estomo commended the SPD and Taguig Police for their continued police operations against all forms of criminality and illegal gambling activities, which only proved their “dedication and commitment to their duties.”

The arrested suspects, according to Kraft, were presently detained at the Taguig Police Custodial Facility pending the filing of charges against them for violation of RA (Republic Act) 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act, PD (Presidential Decree) 1602 or Illegal Gambling and Section 11, Art. II of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.
