AUTHORITIES arrested a man who stabbed his girlfriend to death in Quezon City on Wednesday morning.

The suspect, a resident of Caloocan City, was apprehended in a follow-up operation in Cavite, where he went into hiding after killing her girlfriend, a 23-year-old accounting staff.

Police said the stabbing occurred in front of an engine repair shop along Quirino Highway in Barangay Kaligayahan at around 6:30 a.m.

A witness told the police the lovers were “quarreling” along the road when the suspect pulled out a knife from his waist.

The suspect then stabbed the victim multiple times to her face and body. He then fled from the scene on foot.

Despite her injuries, the victim sought help from a security guard of their company who brought her to a hospital.

Physicians tried to save the victim, but she succumbed to her injuries at around 8:10 a.m.

Police said the victim has repeatedly lodged a complaint against the suspect at their barangay in Caloocan for physical abuse in violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act.

In an interview aired over TeleRadyo, the suspect said he killed his girlfriend out of “jealousy”, claiming the victim is having a “relationship with another man”.

“Ipinagtatanggol niya po yung lalaki niya. Kumbaga tinataboy niya ako,” the suspect said.
