A “BOGUS” cop was caught on CCTV (closed-circuit television) allegedly shooting a scavenger who spat on him and turned out to be a family driver “pretending” to be a policeman.

The suspect from Bgy. Don Manuel, Quezon City, was arrested and is now facing charges of frustrated homicide, violations of RA 10591 (illegal possession of firearms), and Art. 179 (Illegal use of ranks or insignia).

A report from the Galas Police Station showed that the incident happened at about 6:10 a.m., July 3, 2022, along D. Tuazon St., corner Lourdes Castillo St., Bgy. Don Manuel, Quezon City.

Police said the victim is a scavenger and allegedly a “mentally disabled” person who is still being treated at the Quezon City General Hospital.

According to the police, based on the CCTV video gathered, the suspect, who was wearing a PNP (Philippine National Police) field pixelized uniform, was about to park his Hyundai Tucson.

The victim was seen blocking his way; he was then approached by the victim and spat on him. Irked, the suspect alighted from the vehicle and shot the victim.

A witness reported the incident to the police, who conducted a follow-up investigation.

The suspect was later arrested and discovered not to be an “enlisted” police officer.

Recovered from his possession were a Manila Police District patch, a caliber .45 Armscor pistol with ammunition, and one set of PNP uniforms.
