CABANATUAN CITY – The Nueva Ecija Police’s latest manhunt operations resulted in the arrest of Central Luzon’s (CL) top and most wanted felon in Talavera town on Monday.

In his report to Police Regional Office 3 Director Brig. Gen. Matthew P. Baccay, Provincial Police Head Col. Jess B. Mendez identified the arrested suspect as Jerico Layag, 46, of Bgy. Sto. Niño 3rd, San Jose City.

Mendez said the suspect, listed as the most wanted person in the regional level, fell during manhunt Charlie operations conducted by members of the Talavera police led by Lt. Col. Jackyll Bilibli, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Provincial Intelligence Branch in Bgy. Pagasa at 3:00 p.m.

The Nueva Ecija top cop said the suspect was nabbed on the strength of an arrest warrant for rape with no bail recommended and two counts for sexual assault with a recommended bail of P200,000 each.

Mendez said the warrants were issued by San Jose City Regional Trial Court Branch 38 Judge Cecilio Domingo Bautista on February 9, 2021, and received by the Talavera police on January 24, 2022.

“This once again proves that with collaboration, everything is attainable. Let us continue to work our best to intensify our campaign in the execution of manhunt operations against these wanted persons in line with strict directives of our PRO3 director Gen. Baccay,” said Mendez.
