CL cops on standby for ‘Betty’ response ops

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 director P/Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr . said measures that were implemented during the previous typhoons are already being carried out to prepare for super typhoon “Betty.”

Hidalgo added that the entire Central Luzon (CL) police are on full alert, and all guidelines under the PNP (Philippine National Police) Critical Incident Management Operational Procedures (CIMOP) are strictly being observed, which includes manpower, equipment and related capabilities for disaster response.

“As directed by the PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, we are working closely with the local disaster risk reduction management councils (DRRMCs) to ensure the safety of the public during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Betty, and I have instructed all unit commanders to conduct a pre-deployment briefing to our men on the ground for precautionary measures as we also want our personnel to be safe during natural disasters and emergencies,” Hidalgo said.

Meanwhile, the top cop urged the residents, especially those who are living in low-lying areas, to cooperate and heed the disaster preparedness plan of the local government units (LGUs), particularly in evacuating to safer places to guarantee their safety during the onslaught of the super typhoon in the region.
