A ZAMBOANGA del Sur resident tagged as one of the country’s most wanted gun-for-hire was captured by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on Friday last week, PNP-CIDG director Maj. Gen. Leo M. Francisco announced yesterday.

The official identified the suspect as Rasid Pangarungan Dalidig alias “Thata,” a most wanted hitman in Zamboanga Peninsula since 2018.

The suspect has been included in the Department of Interior and Local Government’s list of Most Wanted Person and is the subject of a P140,000 monetary reward.

Francisco said hat members of the Lanao del Sur CIDG Provincial Field Unit, with the help of local law enforcement agents, tracked down and arrested the suspect in his hiding place in Bgy. Bacolod Chico in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur around 5:50 p.m. last Friday.

The accused is the subject of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Ali Ombra Bacaraman of the Iligan City Regional Trial Court in Lanao del Norte on February 17, 2022 and another warrant for murder issued by Judge Jaime Caberte of the Molave, Zamboanga del Sur RTC Branch 23 on February 12, 2018.

No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspect by the two courts.

The accused was taken to the CIDG Lanao del Sur PFU holding facility for documentation prior to his presentation to court for issuance of official jail commitment order.

“We have captured another most wanted person in the country amid the directive of PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil to go all-out against wanted criminals to ensure they won’t be able to commit more crimes in the streets,” said the PNP-CIDG director.

Francisco said he has ordered all 17 CIDG Regional Field Units and other operating units to further intensify the implementation of their “Oplan: Pagtugis” aimed at capturing wanted lawbreakers nationwide and bring them to justice.

“We are going after all wanted persons, including those hiding in remote areas, to ensure that individuals who threaten public safety are held accountable, dahil ang gusto ng pulis, ligtas ka,” said the official.
