CALAUAN, Laguna – Laguna Provincial Governor Ramil Hernandez and Calauan local executives led the ceremonial pineapple eating during the kick-off of the 24th Pinya Festival in Calauan, Laguna on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

The Laguna governor was joined by Calauan Mayor Rosseler Caratihan, Vice Mayor Dong Sanchez, Congresswoman Ruth Hernandez of the 2nd District of Laguna, and Vice Governor Karen Agapay.

Calauan town featured a colorful parade on May 10, 2023 at the opening of their annual Pinya Festival as a thanksgiving to their patron San Isidro Labrador and for the bountiful harvest in the locality with this year’s theme: “Magsaya sa Bagong Calauan, Makiisa: Bangon Calauan.”

Mayor Caratihan shared what he has accomplished for the town in his speech before the audience inside a covered court.

“Dito po natin pinapakita ang galaw ng bawat Calaueño, andyan po ang sining at art na pinapakita po ng bawat Calaueño sa pag-arte at pag-awit. Hangad ko po ang ating tagumpay sa 6-days na Pinya Festival celebration,” the mayor said.

Their festivity will last until May 15 with a Pinya Indak, Sayaw Calaueño Street Dancing, and parade.

Before this, there was a thanksgiving mass at the parish of San Isidro in Barangay Poblacion before dressing up in the civic parade.

There was also an award for the Calaueno brothers, doll making contest, and PWD (Person with Disability) Talent Show in the afternoon, and Mr. and Mrs. Calauan Fashion Show in the evening May 10.

There will be a Gawad Parangal to Calaueños and “That’s my Lolo, That’s my Lola” on May 11.

A Zumba for all, Pinyakamasarap Cooking Contest, launching of agri-eco tourism, fun run for a cause, and PinyakaDyosa 2023 grand coronation on May 12.

Also, Agrilympics, job fair, and Mr. and Mrs. Calauan Coronation Night at Municipal Park on May 13, farmers seminar, motor and car show, Calaueño Night, and fireworks display on May 15.
