Cache of guns, grenade seized from trader’s home in Bulacan
MEMBERS of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 3 yesterday arrested a businessman after the raiding team confiscated a cache of firearms and bullets in his house in Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan.
Arrested was Sonny Borinaga, a 49-year-old contractor residing at Sitio Duplas, Bgy. Kalawakan, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan.
Operatives of the CIDG Bulacan Provincial Field Unit and the DRT police conducted the operation based on a search warrant under under OPLAN: Paglalansag Omega.
Seized were a hand grenade, four cal. .22 rifles, 57 live bullets for cal. .22 rifle, a magazine for cal. .22 rifle, a cal. .45 pistol, two magazines for cal..45 pistol, two cal. .38 revolvers, 12 live ammunition for cal..38 revolver, a carbine rifle, two long magazines for carbine rifle, two short magazines for carbine rifle, 25 live bullets for carbine rifle, 27 live bullets for cal. .45 pistol, nine live bullets for cal. .9mm pistol, 21 live bullets for cal..380 revolver, a 12-gauge shotgun, and two live bullets for 12 gauge shotgun.
A cal.. 45 pistol confiscated during the raid was later turned over to the suspect’s wife after she presented an updated Firearms Registration and Permit to Carry for the gun.
The arrested suspect and the seized pieces of evidence were brought to CIDG Malolos City for documentation and proper disposition.
Borinaga will be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
