CAAP prepares for ‘Florita’

THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has ramped up its preparations for typhoon “Florita” before its landfall in the next 36 hours based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) tropical cyclone bulletin no. 4 issued, Monday, August 22.

CAAP Spokesperson Eric Apolonio said CAAP Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio“Skee” Tamayo had given instructions to area managers on Region 1 airports (Baguio, Laoag, Vigan, Lingayen, and Pangasinan) and Region 2 airports (Bagabag, Palanan, Cauayan, Basco, and Itbayat) to activate its procedures for typhoon disaster response for the incoming weather disturbance.

As of this writing, CAAP airport managers closely monitor and conduct inspections at their respective airports.
