Bulacan’s ‘Pink City’ goes red; throws full support behind UniTeam
SAN Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, known as the “Pink City” because its local government employees wear pink uniforms, recently gave a warm start to the Bulacan tour of the UniTeam by fully supporting the BBM-Sara tandem.
Shortly after the UniTeam caravan arrived in the area, thousands of residents and city hall employees flocked to the newly-built sports complex, with hundreds of them arriving at the venue before dawn.
Many of them did not dare to leave their occupied areas for a minute for fear that someone else would occupy them.
“Sa lahat ng mga kandidatong dumalaw sa amin dito, ngayon lang ganito ang mga tao. Mga kandidato sa iba-ibang posisyon pero hindi sa president kasi si BBM lang ang pinapasok dito na presidentiable,” a city hall employee who was assigned as one of the shepherds for the event said.
While Marcos was on board an open float on his way to the stage, the cheer of support from the crowd resonated clearly, while some of the people jostled against one another just to be able to touch his hands.
There was an elderly woman who edged her way to the side of the float and held up a placard that read, “Kahit isa lang ang mata ko gusto ko pa ring makita si BBM.”
When Marcos read the written message, he immediately held out his hand and shook hands with her. It was learned that she indeed could see with only one eye since her right eye was blinded by glaucoma.
The presidential aspirant was like a movie star as people kept asking for his autograph, handing over whatever they had in handy that he could sign on.
When he spoke, the people avidly listened to Marcos as he expressed his appreciation of the warm welcome that he received and stressed that it would be easier for the country to recover from the economic blow dealt by the pandemic and rise up again if every Filipino has a sense of national unity.
“Ang pagkakaisa ng ating bansa ang kailangan para maitawid natin sa pandemya ang ating bayan at maibangong muli. Kaya magandang simbolo para sa ating bansa ang pagsanib pwersa namin ni Sara,” Marcos said.
“Ipagkaisa muna natin ang sambayanan. Kapag nagawa natin ‘yun, maraming magagandang pagkakataon ang magbubukas para sa Pilipinas. Kasama kami ni Sara sa pagpapaganda at pagpapaunlad ng Pilipinas. Hindi lang tayo babangon sa pagkalugmok ngayon, tayo ay sisikat pa sa buong mundo. Lahat tayo ay magiting na isisigaw, ‘Ako ay Pilipino,’” he continued.
