LOCAL Government Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. urged village chiefs to discuss during the conduct of Barangay Assembly the government’s campaign against illegal drugs under the Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) program.

Abalos also told the barangay leaders to encourage their constituents to support the fight all the way and stay away from the menace for good.

Barangay Assembly is held on a Saturday in every semester or any Saturday of March and October of the year under the local government code and Proclamation 599.

According to the DILG chief, the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will not fail in this advocacy if the people would support and rally behind the program.

Under BIDA, the government will be banking on a holistic approach wherein it focuses on the demand reduction and rehabilitation.

“Let’s take advantage of the Barangay Assembly to encourage grassroots’ support for the BIDA program.

During the three conducts of BIDA “fun run,” the DILG chief expressed elation over the result after thousands of people readily made themselves available and joined the “run against illegal drugs.”
