TRANSPORT Secretary Jaime J. Bautista feels challenged by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s marching order during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) to modernize the country’s transport facilities, including the upgrade of local airports.

With Sec. Bautista’s deep familiarity with the aviation industry, he vowed to prioritize the enhancements of various airports and elevate them to global standards.

“We will build upon the dozens of aviation-related projects completed in the past administration and identify areas for [a] technical upgrade to allow them to enhance their operational capabilities,” Sec. Bautista said.

“The President’s order to the DOTr is clear – it’s full speed ahead for our transport projects,” the DOTr chief added.
