UMAPELA si Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. kay Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. na mag-ingat sa mga taong nagbibigay ng “maling impormasyon.”

Ito ay kaugnay na rin sa naging alegasyon ng kalihim na mayroong “malawakang cover-up” sa pagkakaaresto ng sinibak na si Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo kaugnay ng pagkakakumpiska ng P6.7 bilyong halaga ng shabu noong 2022.

“So I now appeal to our SILG (Secretary of Interior and Local Government), let us focus on the real enemy. Let me also call the kind attention of our SILG, the Honorable Benjamin Abalos Jr., to take a second look [at] who may be feeding him wrong information to cast doubt on the PNP organization under his authority,” pahayag ni Azurin sa naganap ng press briefing sa Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Ayon kay Azurin, bagamat kaisa siya ng kalihim sa kampanya laban sa mga “tiwaling” pulis subalit mas makabubuting siguruhin umano kung sino ang “tunay na kalaban.”

“While I join the good SILG in the fight against erring personnel in the police force, let us focus on the real enemy here – which is the shabu and the drug syndicates,” paliwanag ni Azurin.

Kasabay nito, itinanggi din ni Azurin na mayroon ngang naganap o tangkang “cover-up” sa pagkakaresto o pagkakasangkot ni Mayo sa pagkakakumpiska ng droga.

“Let me categorically say; there is no attempt to cover up and exculpate Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo from his involvement in the illegal drug operation,” pahayag ng PNP chief.

Matatandaan na noong Oktubre 8, si Mayo ay naaresto sa anti-illegal drug operation sa Tondo, Maynila kung saan nakumpiska ang P6.7 bilyong halaga ng droga.
